The ALPreps Composite Rankings include rankings from a few major sources including:

– MaxPreps
– Massey/On3 Ratings
– HSRatings (formerly CalPreps)
– AHSFHS Power Ratings

All of the polls factored in the rankings use different computer ranking formulas. We combine all of these to show a composite ranking. These rankings don’t mean anything other than to show a wide variety of ideas on how good various teams are playing.

Due to a wide variety of teams that are included in various polls and the variation of difficulty between classifications, we compile the 25 highest ranked teams and display them here.

We made the choice to not feature the AL.com Power 25 in the actual composite rank because A) it’s opinionated based on only five ballots, B) they don’t rank past 25 (there are a few others receiving votes and we will note their position, but not enough) and C) their rankings are typically meant to be more inclusive to smaller classifications and we feel they don’t accurately portray top teams regardless of classification. However, we have provided their rankings for comparison to the composite.
